Samaritan Counseling Center
“WHO We Are and WHAT We Do”
Samaritan Ambassador Invitation
The Samaritan Counseling Center, formed in 1959 is the oldest of 91 Samaritan Centers in the US and Japan.
We are accredited by the Samaritan Institute in Denver, Colorado.
We have three divisions, Samaritan Counseling, Samaritan Stephen Ministers and Samaritan Certified Pastoral Education otherwise known as Samaritan CPE.
1st Division Samaritan Counseling:
Samaritan Counseling addresses the mind, body and spirit, making us very unique and setting Samaritan apart from other counseling centers.
Also setting Samaritan apart, our counseling is faith-based counseling; however, we do not focus on or endorse any specific religion.
Samaritan Counselors are trained to discuss religion and healing one’s spirituality. We do not “sell” religion or force anyone to discuss religion.
We have 13 satellite locations in Western New York, ranging from Lockport and Wheatfield in the north towns to West Seneca and Springville in the south towns and in between two locations in the City of Buffalo.
We provide counseling to children, adolescents, individuals, couples, families and another unique Samaritan feature, we counsel pastors, priests, deacons and nuns.
We help children who are having difficulties at home or at school, individuals who might be dealing with suicidal tendencies, drug and alcoholism, sexual issues, couples with marital issues, individuals facing job loss and an uncertain future.
We accept all clients and can subsidize some clients, who do not have the full ability to pay for their counseling. This is done through grants and donations.
Client counseling is performed by licensed Counselors and certified Spiritual Mentors.
2nd. Division Samaritan Stephen Ministers:
Our Samaritan Stephen Ministry Division provides a “Buddy” system for individuals who might be facing loneliness due to a loss of a loved one, illness or other difficulties and need someone to talk to or meet with, periodically.
Our trained Stephen Ministers are volunteers, who can provide that listening ear.
3rd. Division Samaritan Certified Pastoral Education:
Our Samaritan Clinical Pastoral Education Division, in partnership with Sister’s Hospital, provides educational training for Pastors, Deacons and lay persons to become more effective in their pastoral duties.
You are invited to be a Samaritan Ambassador:
Samaritan Ambassadors promote the Samaritan Center, by referring the Center to friends and families, who are in need of counseling.
They promote the Samaritan Center in their community organizations and in their churches and congregations.
They attend events that promote fellowship among other Samaritan Ambassadors and friends.
Additionally Samaritan Ambassadors participate in planning events that support the Center, by raising monies to help fund counseling for clients that do not have the ability to pay their full fee for counseling.
Our NEXT EVENT will be a Samaritan Valentine’s Event, to be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012.
Join our Samaritan Ambassadors and help plan our Samaritan Valentine’s Event. Please join Samaritan Ambassadors. Contact us for sign up.
